Casditol 54-P: sequestrant and dispersant for scouring
Sequestrant · Dispersant
Sequestrant/Dispersant of metal and alkaline earth ions. Especially suitable for scouring, bleaching, causticizing, and dyeing with dyes that do not contain metals in their molecule. Very good stability at high temperatures and elevated alkalinity levels.
Properties
- Chemical nature: phosphonic acid derivatives
- Density: 1.2 - 1.3 g/cm³
- pH: 6.0 ± 0.5
- Solubility: fully soluble in water
- Compatibility: with anionic and non-ionic products
- Stability: good under normal use and at high temperature and high alkalinity
- Storage: at least 12 months in the closed original container, between 0 and 40 °C
Uses
- Causticizing
- Scouring
- Bleaching
- Dyeing with vat dyes, indigo, sulfur dyes, reactive dyes, and dyes that do not contain metals in their molecule
- In pretreatment processes, it sequesters iron, copper, calcium, and magnesium ions, facilitating fiber cleaning for subsequent processes.

Cotton Mercerizing: What It Is, What It Does to the Fiber and How to Control the Process
Mercerizing treats cotton yarn or fabric with concentrated caustic soda under tension. It gives luster, strength, dimensional stability and higher dye uptake when concentration, temperature, time, tension and washing are under control. The process variables, the difference from causticizing, how to check the result and the usual defects.
