Casdiredux 2811: residual monomer in emulsion resins
After an emulsion polymerization, whether acrylic, vinyl-acrylic or styrene-acrylic, some unreacted monomer remains and gives the resin an odor. It is lowered with a redox treatment using an oxidant, such as a hydroperoxide, and a reducing agent.
CASDIREDUX 2811 can be used as the reducing agent in that treatment. Dose, temperature and addition order are adjusted in the lab or in the reactor, measuring residual monomer before and after.
CASDIREDUX 2811 is an organic reducing agent supplied as a white crystalline powder that does not absorb moisture or cake. The same job takes a smaller amount than sodium hydrosulfite.
